also, uh, petty or whatever but i wish people would make it a little less obvious they have absolutely zero clue how film distribution works or what factors into it because i need to stop seeing people state with admirable certainty that entirely independently produced and distributed films (like moonlight) are “major hollywood productions” just because they star one or two famous actors, had academy recognition or a budget that exceeded a shoebox

there’s still absolutely no comparison to be made to ACTUAL major hollywood production companies like warner bros and co in terms of means and reach and influence
